The last ride….for now

Well, I’m done with riding for a bit…only because I’m going to be living out of a kayak for the next 15 months – OCJ – The Great Loop

july-29th-2016I had to get a picture of me on one of our customer’s bike, Mike C., because it happens to be the same colour as my kayak.  You can see the kayak and my crazy adventure by clicking onto the above link!

And!!!!
If you’re out traveling anywhere around my kayaking route….stop by, share some stories and few laughs!  (look at the map!)

Tell them I sent you!

Important: I’m not being influenced or compensated by any means to write or say any of this.  This is my unbiased observations.  As an outsider / customer, the following information is important for you to know

Heading to workHey everyone!

I’m back to working on motorcycles for the next several months!

I’m not really about giving “free plug-ins”, but I making an exception today because …

It all has to do with the people! 🙂

My co-workers, throughout all departments of the business, including management  at Barnes Harley Davidson in Langley BC….are all truly amazing people!

I’m blessed because it doesn’t “feel” like a job, if that makes any sense because it’s like I’m getting paid to do a hobby while being surrounded by people I enjoy being around. How many people can say that? It’s a great feeling to be working in this type of environment and the people at Barnes have done a great job to make it that way.

HD_wheels_1This will be my 2nd season working at Barnes and I’m thrilled to be back!

There is one other point – working with the other technicians , I have to mention….

I’ve never met a more helpful group of people in my life!   They want each individual technician to succeed, so they are always available and offering their assistance to each other.

Their hidden agenda is this:  If you (a fellow technician) messes up, it makes them & their department look bad.  They don’t want to look bad in anyones eyes.   They want you (the technician) to succeed because it makes them look good too!

As a customer, you are not just getting one technician working on your bike, you’re getting the whole department working on it to ensure the success of it!  How awesome is that!

Come down…and….. Tell them I sent you!

On a side note, although I won’t have as much free time as I have had, that doesn’t mean I won’t be out and about exploring!  I’m fairly new to this area, Maple Ridge BC, so I still have lots to see and do!

Connecting with a Fellow Solo Traveller

Paul and I in Wells Nevada

Paul and I in Wells Nevada

A few months ago, I was in Dayville Oregon when I come across another solo traveler, Paul, who was on a similar adventure. Read more about it here: Nomadic Motorcycle.

Exactly 4 months later, our paths crossed again and it was definitely good for the soul.

See, both of us are currently in limbo, waiting for that date to come when the next big adventure begins. The dates are set, but now its just waiting for it to get here, so until that day arrives, which sucks because you (I) want to go now. 🙂 (read: Emotionally, what to expect)

Paul and I went for coffee, walked around and talked liked best friends would. The discussions were filled with enthusiasm and the topics were about future adventures, solo traveling, the lifestyle, being a minimalist, relationships, society, getting away from the rat race, expectations, the pro’s and con’s of it, the future, goals and everything else that makes it exciting to live this type of lifestyle.

Something I do want to point out to others….although its not an easy lifestyle….I have to ask you, “ What lifestyle is?”. No matter what lifestyle you choose, you will always have ups and downs. You should know the other reality of this journey…..The rewards are awesome! It’s an amazing journey filled with positive experiences that show’s you there is so much more to life. You see life in a different perspective, and it’s very exciting! How can you make it happen for yourself? Start here: Secret to long term travel

The past few hours spent with a fellow solo traveler was a well needed positive experience to speak and connect with a like minded individual on the same path. It’s refreshing, encouraging and exciting! This is definitely something every solo traveler should do, connect with others on the same path.

In a couple weeks, Paul will be flying to South America with his motorcycle, where he’ll be exploring for an indefinite time. I’m so envious! We don’t know when our paths will cross again, but he will always remain a good friend. Safe travels buddy!

The Bikes!

Working on bikes, both new and used, brings up the feelings of joy, pride and excitement. And the people I work with and work for are a friendly group of people, who have become great friends. Definitely a positive working environment, I love it!

One of the cool things that not many people get to experience is test riding a brand new bike with Zero Kilometres/Miles on it.  I’m the first person to set my hands on it!

Although there are many reasons I love working on bikes, here’s a previous post, Motorcycles & Model Kits , regarding some of those reason.

A teaser of only a few of the many bikes I had an opportunity to work on and test ride!

For the Hardcore Harley Davidson Enthusiast, or anyone….
can you recognize / name any of them?
